Tantalum(V) butoxide is for the synthesis of Tantalum oxide nanoparticles . Tantalum alkoxides are also used as starting materials for tantalum oxides for dielectrics. This product is used as a precursor for the sol-gel deposition of NaTaO3 thin films and for the sol-gel deposition of Tantalum doped TiO2. It is also used in pharmaceutical industry. Synthesis of Ta(OCH₂CH₂CH₂CH₃)₅ is reported (see link below).
